Luke 14:26-27 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters–yes, even his own life–he cannot be my disciple. And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

• To follow after Jesus means that He gets first place in every way.
• To be His disciple means that He is our first love and all our decision making is based on that relationship.
• God wants us to have all these loved ones around us, but He wants to be first in every way so that we can be His disciples.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus I do choose in every way to be Your disciple. I commit my heart and my life to You.  I choose You above all and everyone and everything.  You are the love of my life and You loved me when no one else did. You always carried me and watched over me.  I praise You today and I sing a new song to You today because You are my Savior and my Lord that I follow.  Teach me Your ways I pray.  Amen.

Psalms 91:5-7  You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

• Many may be effected by different things, but we are safe because we trust in Him.
• There are things that are real like ‘terror of night’, but we are completely surrounded and protected by the Lord and His angels.
• Pestilence that stalks is almost unexpected often times and we have nothing to be afraid or concerned of, because the Lord is our helper.  

Prayer:   Thank You Lord that I can be safe in You today and not be concerned of what people say or how they react or what they do.  I am completely at peace in You. Amen.

Psalms 42:8 By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me– a prayer to the God of my life.

• Whether by day or by night, God is involved in our lives very deeply.
• His love is complete, unfailing, and He directs us all day in His love.
• We sing and praise Him after a day of experiencing His goodness, and bringing the evening sacrifice to Him.

Prayer:  How I praise Your holy name, that You love me and have done and still do so much for me. That I bring my praise to You continually I worship You.  There is no one like You Lord.  Hallelujah!  Amen.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

• All Christians agree – the Lord is returning!
• So many things in the earth are indicating that an end is approaching.  We as children of God are excited and a new beginning then starts.
• When Jesus returns He will not come as the lamb of God only, but rather the lion of Judah – victorious! 

Prayer:  Lord with excitement and joy in my heart I look forward to Your return.  Help me to always be mindful of this and know that You are coming back for us and I want to be ready and to share this message and gospel with each one.  Lead me I pray in Jesus name.  Amen.

Psalms 42:5-6 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon–from Mount Mizar.

• Certainly, hope deferred or hope lost makes the soul sick.
• The enemy tries to steal our hope which we may never give up, because while there is a God there is always hope.
• We remind ourselves of who God is and what He has already done in our lives and soon our hope returns and even our confidence and faith.

Prayer:  Lord I look to You today and I even lift my face and eyes to the heavens as a symbol knowing that You are always there for me and know that You will always help me. I rejoice in You and praise Your holy name because there is no one like You.  Amen.

John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.

• So often and so easily our hearts are troubled by so many things in life.
• We have to really work against getting stressed, anxious or troubled in our hearts.
• We trust in the Father God Almighty and in Jesus who never lets us down.  We will depend upon Him.  Trust is blindly dependent upon the one you are trusting.

Prayer:  Lord I do trust in You and decide to continually trust in You regardless of how things look.  I will leave my life in Your hands and know that the outcome will always be according to Your purpose and plan.  Amen.

1 John 5:14  This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

• Anything – means anything that we ask.  What a blessing!
• We approach and call upon Him with confidence because of the completed work that our Lord Jesus did, we should never forget.
• We pray according to His will when we walk in His ways we know His will.

Prayer:  Lord I do want to pray according to Your will for my life and Your purposes. Holy Spirit I pray that You will guide me and show me His will that I will pray correctly.  Amen.

1 Thessalonians 3:13  May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.

• No question – life presents so many challenges that can distract us from our walk with the Lord.
• But – God strengthens us and like no other.
• God would like for us to be blameless (walking in right standing and with a clear conscience) with Him.

Prayer:  Thank You that You are my strength giver that I can depend upon You because I am weak and I need Your strength Lord that I can overcome every temptation and difficulty in life.  I praise You for Your strength and I lean on Your strength today.  Amen.

Psalms 112:4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.

• No matter how dim or difficult it seems there is ALWAYS a way. 
• Even when we can see it, God has a plan and deliverance.
• God always comes through for us when we belong to Him and exercise compassion and grace towards others, it will come back to us when we need it.

Prayer:  Lord teach me Your ways and help me to always walk with kindness and grace to others that I can expect will be functioning in my life.  I submit to You completely.  Amen.
